Welcome to L'abri Therapies! My name is Sandi Smoker and I am glad you found your way here.
L'abri evokes a sense of shelter where therapeutic engagement through compassionate, skilled and person-centred care can provide an environment for exploring relational congruence. I believe therapeutic relationships are nurtured through a sensitive approach to culturally-informed practices, preventing and alleviating distress while supporting overall well-being. These elements are essential for collaborative engagement where change and transformation are possible.
Let me introduce myself. I am a visual artist, grandmother, knitter, wife, sailor, mother, artist, sister, traveller and life-long learner. I live on a small island in the Outer Southern Gulf Islands on the westcoast of Canada where I serve as Mental Health Program Supervisor and Counsellor at our local health centre. I am also a certified art therapist, certified spiritual care practitioner, and a co-scholar on the Arts for Equity Project.
I look forward to connecting with you.
