Art Therapy, Counselling, Initial Consult, Spiritual Care
Welcome to L’abri Therapies! My name is Sandi Smoker and I am glad you found your way here.
I believe therapeutic relationships are nurtured through compassion, inclusivity, and culturally-informed practices, while preventing and alleviating distress in support of overall well-being. L’abri Therapies evokes a sense of shelter, holding space for collaborative engagement and restorative exploration, both essential elements for change and transformation.
I am a visual artist, grandmother, and life-long learner. My contemplative roots run deep in Christian wisdom tradition and reflect my devotion to the arts as integral to emotional and spiritual formation.
I live in the Outer Southern Gulf Islands on the westcoast of Canada where I work as Mental Health Program Supervisor and Counsellor at the local health centre. My training includes certification in art therapy, and certification as a clinical specialist in spiritual care and counselling. I serve as co-investigator and co-scholar on the Arts for Equity Project.
I look forward to connecting with you.
My Journey Begins
The clinic was born from my passion for a holistic, person-focused approach to wellness, creating a space where care and compassion come together.
Why I Care
At the heart of my practice is a genuine commitment to your well-being. I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where you are free to be curious about your feelings and experiences while growing in self-compassion.
Therapeutic Shelter
I believe dignity is inherent, that flourishing and personhood develop through relational engagement. Working together to explore what matters most to you can build resources for flourishing.
